How do you become a working actor? Follow these steps and you'll be on your way!
Acting Class
Headshots
Resume
Auditions
Bookings - Films/TV Shows/Commercials
Demo Reel
Networking
These are the crucial steps to master. Each step has it's own skills involved. It takes time to learn and mature within each step. Becoming a talented, skilled actor can take years, even a lifetime. But there's no time like the present!
To land bigger roles on TV and film, you're going to need a talent agent. Agents act as a filter for casting directors. Agents choose good actors they believe can book roles. When you have an agent, it tells casting directors that you have been vetted and your agent believes in you. That's a great start.
In working through these steps, and repeating them throughout your career, you'll automatically be creating your marketing package for casting directors and talent agents. This marketing package contains your headshots, resume and demo reel. Agents look at your marketing package when considering to represent you. This is an important tool to pitch you to casting directors when agents submit you for auditions. The better your marketing package is, the easier it is to get an agent and land those big auditions.
There's a few more power tools I give my clients so they go above and beyond this basic marketing package. I want my clients to stand out from the competition when they're ready for an agent.
I've actually created a "How To Manual" for getting started as an actor in film and television. I've made it accessible to everyone. I hope you'll take advantage of it!
Enjoy!
